The Residual Value: Reshaping the Residual Space in the Context of Dynamic Development   (2017.10)

 

城市的动态发展决定了土地功能更替过程中闲置土地、闲置建筑的出现,但在高强度的城市开发下,公共活动空间的不足却暗示了空间与使用功能的错配。城市中低效利用的土地或空间期待被激活,创造新的使用价值。研究者们各自定义了这种“剩余空间”,名号不一,却指向共同的目的:相对于理性规划下“正式”开发的城市空间,被忽略的“非正式”空间往往重新激励人们表达真实需求与改造的意愿。通过建筑研究案例和设计实践、建筑学院教学项目和对空间中人的活动的采访,本刊试图呈现重塑剩余空间的方法。

 

The rapid development of cities often results in idle land and buildings due to changing land use. However, intensive urban development often creates a mismatch between space and function, leaving a shortage of public space. Underutilised land and buildings must be reactivated and repurposed to create new value. Researchers have termed these spaces as ‘residual space’ or ‘informal space’, as opposed to ‘formal’ urban spaces with planned and developed for specific functions. These residual spaces, however, often inspire genuine needs and desires for reconstruction. Through case studies, architectural practices, academic research interventions, and interviews with residents, the 80th issue aims to explore potential methods to reshape and revitalise these residual spaces.
